About Us

Silvia is a local and national playwright and a happy member of the Hanford community. In her multicultural play Alicia in Wonder Tierra, the main character, Alicia, follows the Day of the Dead/ Dia de Los Muertos Sugar Skull to learn about her Latina roots. So, in the spirit of the play, Silvia has organized the annual Hanford Dia de Los Muertos event so people of all cultures can learn about Dia de Los Muertos. Now in it’s third year, the successful event embraces all people since we all have something in common—“Aren’t we all human?” says Alicia in the play. Silvia is also Hanford’s vice-chair of the Tulare Kings Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, a member of the Kings County Historical Society, president of the Hanford Carnegie Museum, and proud alumnus of New Dramatists and Chicago Dramatists. She is also the co-founder of WE WANNA MAKE YOU LAUGH, a new entity in the valley for stand-up comics.

Silvia’s plays include ALICIA IN WONDER TIERRA (Or I Can’t Eat Goat Head) first presented at the Kennedy Center, WAITING WOMEN, MUMMY DEAREST, RAW DEALS AND SOME SATISFACTION, LOS MATADORES, a finalist of the National Hispanic Theatre Playwriting Award, BOXCAR/EL VAGON a National Winner of METLIFE’s “VOCES” at Repertorio Español (NYC) and happy member of Teatro Latino de San Francisco who also produced the well-received THE MIGRANT FARMWORKER’S SON.
